Introduction

The three different internal DRAs are compatible with each of the Cary 4000, 5000

and 6000i instruments. While all of the following variations are available the

configurations indicated by ticks in the table below offer optimal operation.

The Varian internal DRA provides different mounting options:

•

standard sample holder kit;

• liquid sample holder;

• small sample holder;

• powder cell;

• small sample mount:

• polarizer;

• double aperture attachment.

Reflection consists of two components: specular and diffuse. Specular reflectance is

the mirror-like reflection off a sample surface. Diffuse reflectance occurs when the

surface reflects light in many different directions, giving the surface a matt

appearance.
